Our My Chicken Diaries FarmWe're glad you're considering a visit to "The Farm." My Chicken Diaries is a no-kill acreage farm located in northern Brazoria County, Texas. Here all life is respected and animals are allowed to live their full natural lives, even as their productivity naturally declines with age. Our animals are like children, and we invite you to join us in pampering when you visit. We, Rooster Ron and Chickadoo Suz, of My Chicken Diaries' Head Rooster and Mother Hen, both agree there is no better place in the world. We love it here!! Every time we click our ruby slippers together and say "There's no place like home" three times, we find ourselves back here. (Check our the History page for the story of My Chicken Diaries.) We moved here in 2001. Our new home came complete with a chicken house and eleven hens. We enjoy sharing our farm, the animals, our funny animal stories, and educated others on the fun of raising chickens for fun and eggs. We hope while you visit that you will have a good time, ask plenty of questions and love it here, too. Please review our visit guidelines before you arrive. Our farm is a continual work in progress, something is always needing attention or to be fixed, an animal needing care, or we make a little progress towards making it into the dream farm we envision in our minds. As an active farm, it gets messy easily. Be sure you wear closed-toed washable shoes or boots if you plan to visit the animals or go walking around. We are located south of Houston, TX. We have the good fortune of living in an acreage community. Collectively there are more than 300 acreages in our little community ranging in size from 1 - 45 acres. Much of the area was once rice fields, The first homes in the area were built in the 1970's and new ones are still being built. All homes have been custom design, no track developments, and few of those home owner restrictions that I always despised. Many neighbors in our country community have animals in addition to the usual dogs and cats, such as chickens, goats, turkeys, ducks, geese, horses, cows, and maybe even a sheep or two. So take time to drive around and see what you can see, especially if you have young children. Three words that ensure a great visit: Respect, Safety and Fun! When you visit My Chicken Diaries, we ask that you please remember that unlike most businesses, our farm is our home. We live here on our three acre property 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, along with our large animal family of more than 100 chickens, 2 goats, a few turkeys, some ducks, a dog, a confusion of guinea fowl, and our latest new members, Lenny, a standard donkey and Lizzie and Razor, our very silly geese. We ask that you show respect to the animals in their home, use good safety during your visit and share the fun with everyone!
